Three Types of Organizations That are Often Involved in Giving Temporary Accommodation to Homeless People

The world has evolved to a level where it is expected that any civilized society should have the ability to give accommodation – at least on a temporary basis — to homeless people. In most parts of the world, there are three types of organizations that are often involved in giving temporary accommodation to the said people.

The first type of organizations that are involved in giving temporary accommodation to homeless people is that of religious organizations.  Indeed, a historical perspective reveals that it is religious organizations that came up with the first soup kitchens and temporary accommodation facilities for homeless people.

The second type of organizations that are involved in giving temporary accommodation to homeless people is that of personal charities. These seek out donations from members of the public, and then use the money to give temporary accommodation and other necessities to homeless people.

The third type of organizations that are involved in giving temporary accommodation to homeless people is that of government agencies. Ideally, these are the organizations that, by default, should be catering for homeless folks. But they often focus on long-term strategies (like that of providing subsidized housing in the ‘projects’) while forgetting about the short-term needs of the homeless people.
